Q: What is the purpose of the TRADE THE DAY blog-a-thon?
A: To raise money for Team Alaina and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Q: How can I help raise money for Team Alaina and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society during TRADE THE DAY?
A: During the blog-a-thon, Stairway Press and Colby Marshall will donate all gross profits from the sales of Colby Marshall's book, THE TRADE, made on www.stairwaypress.com during the 24 hours of the blog-a-thon directly to Team Alaina, Alaina’s own fundraising team to benefit the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night event.
Q: What if I'd like to donate more than just the amount that comes with my book?
A: That's awesome! Feel free to buy as many copies of The Trade you can give as birthday, Christmas, teacher, etc. gifts. If you contact Colby, we can even make arrangements for you to send her books you bought today to autograph for your gifts- she is happy to help anyone who participates today. Or, alternatively, go to the S.W.A.T. tab of Colby's website and join the newsletter by adding your name and e-mail address and creating a password. Links and informtion for donting to Team Alaina through Trade the Day following the 24-hour event will be made available to all SWAT Team members.
Q: What are Team Alaina and Light the Night?
A: Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual fundraising walk to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. Hundreds of thousands of participants raise funds for lifesaving research and patient services. Team Alaina is the fundraising team of the brave little girl TRADE THE DAY is honoring. A character is named after Alaina in Colby Marshall’s THE TRADE. The real Alaina was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was 2 ½ years old, and she and her family now raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society through the Night the Light Event as Team Alaina. The funds raised go to provide:
- Lifesaving cancer research
- Financial assistance to cover patient expenses for transportation, medication and testing
- Free educational materials and events
- Programs such as the Patti Robinson Kaufmann First Connection program and Family Support Groups
- Advocacy for better treatments and healthcare reform
- Comprehensive, personalized assistance through our Information Resource Center.
Q: What time does the TRADE THE DAY blog-a-thon start?
A: 12 a.m. on August 23rd, EST (meaning the minute after 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 22).
Q: Are the times listed on the schedule EST, CST, PST, Western Slobobian Time…?
A: All times listed on the TRADE THE DAY official schedule are in EST (Eastern Standard Time).
Q: Is every author guest posting also offering a giveaway?
A: No, not all authors are offering giveaways. If a guest posting author is offering a giveaway, it will be listed on both his or her feature page as well as in his or her guest post the day of the event.
Q: Which authors are doing giveaways?
A: Please check out the Official Blog-a-Thon Schedule for which authors and guests will be hosting giveaways as well as when their posts and giveaways will take place. You can also check out the Trade the Day Front Page. The guests denoted with an asterisk on the front page will be doing giveaways.
Q: How do I enter to win a giveaway?
A: You may enter to win a giveaway by leaving a comment on the blog post in which your desired giveaway is listed. Your comment must include a valid e-mail address. Please check out the Giveaway Official Rules for more information on eligibility and how to enter.
